Visa and entry requirements for au pairs in Liechtenstein

There are differing entry requirements for an au pair stay in Liechtenstein depending on where an au pair is from. We've put together all the relevant information for various countries, including info when a visa is required.

The requirements for EEA citizens and non-EEA citizens are different.

EEA citizens

All EU countries plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland

EU: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.

Non-EEA citizens

Citizens of all other countries

Au pairs from EEA countries

EEA citizens need the following documents for an au pair stay in Liechtenstein:

  • An application form to enter the principality 
  • The form  "Persönliche Angaben zur Ausstellung des Aufenthaltstitels"  (Personal Information for Issuing the Residence Permit) (incl. passport photo and signature)
  • A copy of the valid passport or identity card
  • A copy of the au pair contract 
  • Proof of health insurance coverage 
  • Registration for a German course
  • Proof of income

 

Au pairs from non-EEA countries

Au pairs from non-EEA countries need the following documents for an au pair stay in Liechtenstein:

  • An application form to enter the principality 
  • A visa application
  • A copy of a valid residence permit with residence in the EEA or Switzerland
  • The form "Persönliche Angaben zur Ausstellung des Aufenthaltstitels"  (Personal Information for Issuing the Residence Permit) (incl. passport photo and signature)
  • An original excerpt from the au pair's Criminal Record Report (max. one month old and translated into German by a translation agency certified in Lichtenstein)
  • Proof of basic knowledge of German (e.g. certificate, degree,etc.) 
  • A copy of the valid passport or identity card
  • A copy of the au pair contract  
  • Registration for a German course
  • Proof of income
