Here's what you need to be an au pair in the UK: EU and EFTA citizens Non-EU citizens
You are 18 - 30 years old (17 for EU and EFTA citizens.).
You are single and have no children.
You have a good knowledge of English and would like to improve your skills.
You can afford the travel costs.
You come from an EU or an EFTA country.  
You are entitled to apply for a visa within the Tier 5 Youth Mobility Scheme.  
You have 208 GBP to pay for the visa application.  
You have at least 1,890 GBP in savings plus sufficient funds to pay for your travel costs.  
You would like to work for up to 24 months in the UK as an au pair.  
If you come from Hong Kong, South Korea or Taiwan der Republik Korea oder Taiwan you need to have a sponsor number.

Requirements for host families
Here's what you need to be a host family in the UK:  
You have at least one child under 18 living in your household.
You can provide your au pair with a separate room.
Your au pair should help with childcare and with light housework.
You speak English in your daily lives.
You have a different nationality than your au pair.

Information on Brexit: At the moment, we unfortunately have no information about how the final implementation of Brexit will affect arrangements for au pairing. Until 31 October 2019, the United Kingdom continues to be part of the European Union and au pairing is possible as in the past without any changes or limitations. As more information becomes available, we will inform you about developing political and customs decisions and possible solutions for au pairs and host families.
