Once you've got to know each other and decided you'd like to arrange an au pair stay together, you can confirm your placement on AuPairWorld and agree on the most important details of your stay.

What is a placement proposal?

A placement proposal shows that you're ready to take the next step towards arranging an au pair stay together. It allows you to review and confirm the most important details of your stay before moving forward with an au pair contract.

What information is included in the placement proposal?

A placement proposal includes the key details you've spoken about for your au pair stay.

These include:

  • Start date
  • End date
  • Monthly pocket money
  • Weekly working hours
  • Additional arrangements

Discuss these details together beforehand and review the information carefully before confirming your placement.

How does a placement proposal work?

The host family sends a placement proposal with the details you've discussed together. The au pair can then review the information and either accept or decline the proposal.

When you're both ready to take this step, the host family enters the agreed details and sends the placement proposal to the au pair.

The au pair can review all the information before making a decision. If everything matches what you've discussed, they can accept the proposal and confirm the placement. If there are still questions or details to clarify, they can decline the proposal and discuss these with the host family.

Do we need to decide on a placement right after the video call?

No. Take as much time as you need to get to know each other. You should only move forward with confirming your placement once you're both sure you'd like to arrange an au pair stay together.

Having a video call doesn't mean you need to confirm your placement straight away. You can continue getting to know each other and discuss any outstanding questions.

Once you're both ready to move forward, the host family can send a placement proposal.

Can I decline a placement proposal?

Yes. If the details don't match what you've discussed, or you're not ready to move forward yet, you can decline the placement proposal.

Pay particular attention to the dates, pocket money, weekly working hours and any additional arrangements.

If something isn't right, discuss the details with each other. The host family can then send a new placement proposal.

When will my contact details be shared?

It's up to you whether you'd like to share your contact details. Your email address and verified phone number won't be shared automatically when you confirm a placement.

Sharing your contact details is optional and turned off by default.

If you choose to share them, your email address and verified phone number will be made available to your au pair or host family. The other person doesn't have to share their contact details in return.

You can change your preference at any time under Settings → Share Contact Details.

Good to know:

If you've enabled contact detail sharing, your email address and verified phone number will also be shared with the relevant au pair or host family for any future confirmed placements.

What happens after confirming a placement?

Once your placement is confirmed, you can start preparing for your au pair stay. You'll still be able to find the details you've agreed on through AuPairWorld.

Important: Confirming a placement on AuPairWorld does not replace an au pair contract. You'll still need to prepare and sign a separate au pair contract together.

You can now start preparing for your stay together. For example, you can:

  • Prepare and sign your au pair contract
  • Plan your travel arrangements and prepare your visa and necessary documents
  • Arrange insurance and take care of other practical matters
  • Discuss the details of your first few days together
  • Stay in touch outside AuPairWorld if you've chosen to share your contact details
