Kassel, Germany (December 2017). The persons who register at AuPairWorld, the leading agency for au pairs and host families on the Internet, have clear goals in mind. AuPairWorld does everything it can to help them realise these goals – and says "Thank you!" now to three million registered users.
With its just released video "How Journeys Begin", AuPairWorld shows how all its users are on a journey of self realisation. Au pairs are aiming to learn a new language, to get to know a new culture, and to gain clarity about their further goals and career plans. Host parents are seeking the best possible work-life balance, with good ways to be involved both with their work and with their children. And with each match that takes place on its platform, AuPairWorld is helping individuals achieve these goals together.
"When AuPairWorld was founded 17 years ago, the initial motivation was personal – namely to have an effective way to find the right au pair for one's own family," explains Ann-Kristin Cohrs, Managing Director AuPairWorld GmbH. "From the beginning until today, we are a company that works for people as they pursue their dreams. And with our new video we also show the people behind the scenes at AuPairWorld who are working each day to spread the word about au pairing, to help make it function as smoothly as possible, and to give everyone the opportunity to realise their goals."
From 26 to 29 September, AuPairWorld attended this year’s World Youth and Student Travel Conference (WYSTC) in Montreal, Canada.
As an Elite Member of The World Youth Student and Educational (WYSE) Travel Confederation since last year, AuPairWorld took the chance to further broaden its international network. “The annual conference is a great way to get to know people from the industry from all over the world,” says Ann-Kristin Cohrs, Managing Director of AuPairWorld.
“We are are aiming to expand and diversify our professional network in the youth and educational travel sector so as to be able to make au pairing an even more attractive option for young people. In addition, the basic idea of au pairing as a form of cultural exchange should be promoted and developed in cooperation with WYSE as a strong partner with global reach."
AuPairWorld has thus welcomed the establishment of the new position Sector Manager Cultural Exchange at WYSE. In this new position, Polina Jones introduced herself to the au pair industry at a round table discussion during the conference in Montreal. "The session was very informative," commented Cohrs. "We're looking forward to further cooperation."
AuPairWorld meets with host families and au pairs
Kassel/Dublin (September 2017). In the course of a company trip to Dublin at the beginning of September, 24 employees of AuPairWorld were able to gather much valuable information about the Irish au pairing market. A particularly important source of information was the intensive interaction with customers that took place at two events organised by AuPairWorld for au pairs and host families.
On Saturday September 2, AuPairWorld invited approximately 40 au pairs to take part in a Dublin city tour followed by a light lunch. The au pairs were accompanied on the tour by AuPairWorld employees who received a great deal of useful input from the au pairs relevant to their user support tasks at the company. "Ireland is an important market for us and Dublin is a popular city for au pairs from around the world," remarked Ann-Kristin Cohrs, managing director of AuPairWorld. "Our invitation to take part in a city tour was very well received. The au pairs had the chance not only to learn something about the city but also to get to know each other and to make new contacts."
While the city tour was taking place, AuPairWorld also invited several Irish host families and their children to a breakfast meeting at the Gibson Hotel. This was also an occasion for AuPairWorld to find out directly about the wishes, needs and concerns of its customers. "We spent a very pleasant and interesting morning with our host families with very intensive talks," reported Cohrs. "This direct exchange with customers is a great experience for both sides, and of course provides us as a company with important insights on how we can improve our services to better meet the needs of our customers."

Cohrs took this sportingly and congratulated the regional victors for their success: "We wish them a great celebration in Berlin". Already at the beginning of 2013, Regenbogen passed on management responsibility at AuPairWorld GmbH to two new managing directors, Heike Fischer and Ann-Kristin Cohrs. In 1999 Regenbogen had a vision: “My goal was to make self-matching the standard for au pairs and host families so that each of these groups could have a wider range of choices with less expense. To make this work, people needed trust and security. With clear and transparent rules for the au pair stay, thoroughly checked profiles and excellent customer service we have been able to give our customers the trust and security they desire. And this finally is what has made us the market leader in the field today.”

With a population of over six million residents, Hesse is Germany's fifth largest state and home to the international banking metropolis Frankfurt. On 28 October 2014 at the Hessian Entrepreneur Day, it was announced that the AuPairWorld would receive the first prize in the category “World Market Leader” in the 2014 “Hessen-Champion” Innovation and Growth Competition. The prize was given to company founder and CEO Uwe Regenbogen before an audience of more than 1,000 guests by Hessian Minister President Volker Bouffier together with Hessian Economics Minister Tarek Al-Wazir and Wolf Matthias Mang, president of the Hessian Federation of Enterprise Associations.
After many weeks of suspenseful waiting, AuPairWorld could finally celebrate as it received a coveted first-place award in the 2014 “Hessen-Champion” competition. Volker Bouffier conferred the first-prize honours in the category “World Market Leader” to AuPairWorld's managing directors with the following words: “The company from North Hesse has truly revolutionised its industry and provided it with a real leap forward in efficiency and transparency.”
The Kassel-based company has a worldwide market share of 65 percent and offers dramatic proof that pioneering entrepreneurial spirit in the Internet is not only to be found in Silicone Valley. The award offers dramatic confirmation of the international success the company has enjoyed in recent years. CEO Uwe Regenbogen accepted the award with enthusiasm: “This is terrific! For us, and by that I mean our great staff and our customers around the world, this is recognition of our successful work over the last several years. We are very pleased and very proud to have the title Hessen-Champion 2014.”
In September AuPairWorld celebrated its 15th anniversary. Since its founding in 1999, more than two million persons have registered with AuPairWorld. 2013 was the company's best year ever, with 375,000 host families and au pairs registering from over 193 countries. 86 percent of the registered host families and 78 percent of the registered au pairs came from Europe. The online au pair agency is distinguished by its high quality and safety standards and its continuous double-digit growth over the last several years. AuPairWorld is moving from one success to the next and bringing the au pair concept from Kassel, Germany, to countries and communities around the world.
For the 14th time, a jury made up of leading representatives from business, politics and the media brought together by the Hessian State Ministry for Economics, Energy, Transport and Regional Development and the Hessian Federation of Enterprise Associations has awarded prizes to the top Hessian companies in three categories: leading companies in creating jobs, in developing new innovations, or in being the world market leader in a given industry.

Kassel (18 September 2014). Promoting au pairing and communicating its manifold benefits as a combined form of child care and cultural exchange to the world at large has always been the goal of AuPairWorld – today the world's leading au pair agency on the Internet. In September 2014, the website www.aupair-world.net is celebrating its 15th anniversary.
This provided an ideal occasion for Uwe Regenbogen, company founder and operator of the website, to celebrate the birthday of the successful company together with employees, partners and numerous representatives from the au pair industry in Kassel, Germany, where the AuPairWorld has its headquarters. The party took place on September 5 under a motto articulated by Regenbogen: “We're celebrating the au pair experience together with all those who would like to join us in continuing to popularise au pairing.” A 12-time host father himself, Regenbogen had also made sure to invite his family's first au pair to the celebration, who was happy to be in attendance.
Altogether more than 100 guests, who had accompanied the firm on its successful path to market leadership, came to the Kassel Schlosshotel to celebrate AuPairWorld's 15th anniversary. It was a friendly, familial sort of evening with lively conversations, a diverse program with something for everyone both big and small, and great food, music and dancing. The guests, who included many au pair insurance providers and partner agencies, used their time in North Hesse to celebrate, to exchange views and also to become a little better acquainted with the city of Kassel.
Attendees at the party also had the chance to see the premiere of the new AuPairWorld video – profiling the two millionth user to register on the website, a host family from Lucca, Italy. AuPairWorld visited the family recently together with a film team and shot footage for the video. Just three years previously, the one millionth host family from Simancas in Spain had registered on AuPairWorld. Naturally the question arose: When will the three millionth user be registering at AuPairWorld?
A photo gallery from the party can be viewed. As a further feature of the anniversary month's celebrations, AuPairWorld has also invited its users to participate in an exciting contest to win a range of great prizes for both au pairs and host families. You can take part in the selection of the winners and vote for your favourite entries from around the world by liking their photo entries.

How would it be to go wandering through picturesque alleyways in an old Italian city, or to join in the celebration at a Spanish fiesta, or to encounter kangaroos in their natural habitat in the Australian Outback or to watch London unfold from the top level of a classic double-decker bus...
These are things you dream about sometimes? And you also like dealing with children and sharing life in a family? Then our next question comes quite naturally:
Spending a year abroad, getting to know a foreign country and its people, discovering another culture and learning its language like a native speaker – these are wishes that many young people have after they've finished secondary school and are getting ready to take the next step in their lives. You're feeling the same? Or maybe you simply aren't sure what you should do, but think that experiencing a new part of the world and acquiring some independence could be ultra cool? It's very possible that the au pair option might be just the right thing for you.
The term “au pair” comes from the French and means making an equal exchange. And that's the whole idea behind being an au pair – a family with children invites you as a young person from a foreign country to live with them for a specified period of time as a member of the family. You help out with childcare and household chores and in exchange are integrated into the life of the family, receiving room and board and a set amount of pocket money as well. And there's more besides: you participate in a language course during your au pair time in the foreign country. In the week you have at least one day free and you get paid holiday time as well.
Are you between 18 and 30 years of age? Would you like to get to know another country? Do you enjoy taking care of children? Do you already have a basic knowledge of a second language and would like to improve your language skills? Is helping out with daily chores in a family household easy for you to imagine and finding a place in a host family something you could really enjoy? If you have given a string of “yes” answers, then an au pair adventure could be the next big thing in your future.
here's no better place to really begin to understand and experience the customs and traditions and language of a foreign country than living with a local family. An au pair placement is also a good situation in which to decide what you want to do with the rest of your life – whether you've just finished with school or are taking a break from university studies or from job training. Time spent as an au pair gives you the chance to gain more experience, to acquire new skills as a global citizen and simply to learn more about yourself.
Long and short of it is: In addition to fulfilling an important role in a family and gathering some unforgettable experiences of a foreign land, you'll also be doing something good for your future job prospects. It's well known – foreign language skills and international experience look good on every CV!
The entry and visa requirements for au pairs vary from country to country. At www.aupair-world.net you can find out all about the requirements for your preferred country. And you can also register for free and create your own profile to find a suitable host family. If questions come up, the AuPairWorld team is also always on hand to answer questions personally.

We all know that daily life and especially daily family life is not getting simpler from year to year. Jobs take more time, commuting isn't simple, childcare offerings are often expensive and inflexible. What can a modern family with children do to ensure good care for the kids, good moods for the parents and at the same time manage to meet these worthy goals on a budget that doesn't break the bank?
One solution more and more families are turning to is the inclusion of an au pair in their family constellation. This possibility, which got its start in Britain in the 1950s as the traditional upstairs-downstairs system of domestic help became outmoded, has gained a new relevance as young people have become more mobile, the importance of developing global skills from childhood on has become an essential part of good education, and middle class families very often have two working parents who are strapped for time.
It is, one might argue, a flip side of the globalised stress we all have to cope with. Demands on our time and our capacities are steadily increasing, but in certain respects we also have new resources and possibilities at our disposal.
An au pair is a young person who spends anywhere from a few months to a year or two in a foreign country providing childcare help to a host family, while at the same time acquiring intercultural skills and strengthening language abilities. Great Britain is a particularly attractive country for many au pairs from throughout Europe and around the world because of the possibility it offers to sharpen English skills and to become acquainted with one of the key cultures crucial to acquiring global competence.
The au pair-host family relationship is a classic win-win combination. Families get in-house child care that is highly flexible and perfectly customised to their individual needs. Au pairs get a chance to test their wings in a friendly family context, taking on new responsiblities while learning about another culture in a challenging (but not too challenging) environment.
The whole arrangement is facilitated through the use of the family model. Au pairs are not seen as employees. They are not nannies making a career out of childcare, but rather young people who take on the role of a big sister or brother in the host family for a defined period of time. They help out with diverse childcare tasks and lend a helping hand in the household (both of which are a godsend to many busy families), but do so as integrated part of the family unit. In return they receive room and board and a set amount of pocket money (usually 70 – 85 GBP per week).
Is flexible, at-home childcare a high priority? Would some assistance with light housework also be useful? Are you interested in cultural exchange for your children and the family as a whole? Would a big sister or brother for your kids (for a defined period of time) be something you and your partner and the children could enjoy? Do you have a free room in your home to accommodate an au pair? A string of “yes” answers here could mean that the au pair option is the right one for you.
This is where things have taken a truly interesting turn in recent years. In former times, a family would typically go to a traditional au pair agency that has a catalogue of young people who could serve as potential au pairs. On the basis of interviews with the host family and with the registered au pairs, the agency would propose possible matches charging a hefty sum for its services.
Now there is a different way to search for an au pair that gives families more control over the process and a far greater range of potential au pairs. Instead of giving this task to a third party middle man, young people and families now make use of well-developed specialty websites to profile themselves and to search for their counterparts. The use of these websites comes at a miniscule fraction of the price demanded by the traditional brick and mortar agencies. Making use of the resources provided by the best of them, families have better chances of getting a full impression of an au pair before the placement and thus finding an au pair that truly fits their family's needs.
One of the pioneer websites in this segment and one genuinely devoted to the au pair ideal of cultural exchange (as opposed to simple matchmaking for profit) is AuPairWorld. Founded by a host family father in Germany in 1999 and developed first as a hobby, next as a family business and in recent years as a successful small Internet start-up, AuPairWorld is exclusively devoted to the au pair segment (and not general care-giving matchmaking like many other sites). It combines a well-informed concern for the needs of au pairs and host families with a professional set of service offerings and backs up its Internet offerings with in-person telephone support from a dedicated staff of professionals.
Kassel (16 September 2013). Au pairing in Australia is experiencing a boom. The strong growth rates in registrations on AuPairWorld can be seen in both host families registering to find an au pair as well as au pairs choosing Australia as their preferred destination.
AuPairWorld is driving a shift in au pairing with the convenience and simplicity of direct connections between host families and au pairs. Nowhere is this more apparent than in Australia where, in the first half of 2013, 3050 Australian families sourced au pairs through AuPairWorld, an increase of more than 50% over the first half of 2012. Australian families are increasingly benefiting from all the advantages of having an au pair including much-needed help with child care as well as introducing their kids to a foreign language and culture.
And for Australian families, there are plenty of au pairs to be found on AuPairWorld with equally impressive growth in the number of registered au pairs choosing Australia as their preferred destination. In the first half of 2013, AuPairWorld registered 32,130 au pair applicants looking for a host family in Australia (among multiple destination choices). These au pairs mainly come from France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and Britain. Australia enjoys a 'favourite' status amongst au pairs from continental Europe, who value the opportunity to improve their English while immersing themselves in the 'down under' culture (and warmer climate).

Kassel (20 June 2013). AuPairWorld, the world's leading au pair agency on the Internet, has relaunched its portal with a new design technology. Making use of Responsive Web Design (RWD), the relaunched site gives all users an optimal viewing experience and accommodates smartphone and tablet users particularly well.
On average the website www.aupair-wold.net receives 1.2 million page views per day. “Most of the au pairs and host families continue to access AuPairWorld in the classic way from their desktop computers at home,” says Uwe Regenbogen, founder of AuPairWorld. “But it's clearly the case that more and more users also want to have the option of making use of our services from mobile devices while on the go.”
With the new design at AuPairWorld both types of access are possible, as Responsibe Web Design works for all commonly used desktop and mobile devices such as iPhone, Android, Windows Phone and iPad. Responsive Web Design automatically adjusts the display of the website to the accessing device and shows the site in the correct proportions without requiring any special adjustments from the user. “Responsive Web Design is definitely a step in the right direction to continue improving AuPairWorld for our users and make it more and more user friendly,” comments Uwe Regenbogen.

Kassel (21 February 2013). Au pairing is gaining more and more popularity. This trend can particularly be observed within Europe and has significantly marked the financial year 2012 of AuPairWorld, the world's leading au pair agency on the Internet.
"More and more people in Europe are seeing the advantages of searching for an au pair or a host family using Internet resources“, according to Uwe Regenbogen, founder of AuPairWorld. Along with his 24 members of staff, he is looking back on the most successful year in the almost 14-year-old company‘s history. In 2012, 263,500 au pairs and host families registered on AuPairWorld to find their match using the site's unique resources – an increase of 25 per cent compared with the previous year.
More than 200,000 au pairs and host families, representing 80 per cent of the total of registrations on AuPairWorld, are from Europe. Uwe Regenbogen knows from his own experience that many host families are searching for au pairs from English speaking countries. "It is very pleasing to see that 10,200 registrations came from au pairs in the UK," he commented. "However, compared to the number of registrations from our European front runners - Spain, France, Germany and Italy, this number is still rather modest. But on the whole, host families have good chances to find their match thanks to the large number of aspiring au pairs.“
AuPairWorld also tapped a new market in 2012: Spain. With Spanish becoming the sixth language in which the website is available, the number of users increased accordingly. The company was pleased to record a 93 per cent increase in Spanish au pairs and host families registrations compared to the previous year. This makes Spain the fast climber of the year 2012.
The company‘s turnover also reflects the increasing registration numbers. In 2012, AuPairWorld generated a total annual turnover of 1.7 million euros. This represents an increase of 12 per cent compared with the previous year. This upward trend is continuing in 2013: In the first few weeks of January, more than 1,000 au pairs and host families registered every day.
AuPairWorld is the world's leading au pair agency on the Internet and offers the opportunity to search directly and independently for an au pair or a host family. Since the company‘s founding in 1999, more than 1.4 million users have registered on its site. AuPairWorld is operated by a.n.d. Internet Services GmbH & Co. KG (a.n.d.), a company based in Kassel, Germany. It employs 24 permanent members of staff.
The au pair sector can be divided into three main segments: traditional agencies, online agencies and other types of intermediaries (private contacts, associations, churches). AuPairWorld does not have any information on official statistics or data concerning the numbers of international placements throughout the entire au pair sector.
Kassel (10 October 2012). AuPairWorld, the worldwide leading au pair agency on the Internet continues to grow. In order to comply with the increasing demand of Spanish speaking au pairs and host families, AuPairWorld offers its website from now on also in Spanish.
AuPairWorld is the worldwide leading au pair agency on the Internet, offering au pairs and host families since 1999 the possibility to find each other in a direct and independent way. Due to the increasing number of registrations especially from Spain, AuPairWorld has now decided to publish a Spanish version of its website. From the very beginning, the web portal focused on a multilingual service: it started off in English and German. In 2004, French, Italian and Dutch were added to the language options. And as of now, all information and services of AuPairWorld are also available in the universal language Spanish under the domain http://www.aupairworld.com/es. This aroused already considerable interest: within the first 24 hours, AuPairWorld counted more than 200.000 page impressions.
"We are glad that from now on we can offer our complete service to our numerous Spanish-speaking au pairs and host families in their own language", Uwe Regenbogen, general manager of a.n.d. and operator of AuPairWorld, explains. With about 450 million native speakers in more than 22 countries, Spanish is one of the most spoken languages in the world. Right after English, Spanish is also the most learned foreign language. "An au pair placement offers the great possibility to get to know the Spanish language and culture. This is certainly one of the reasons why Spain is so popular as a host country among au pairs", Regenbogen says. In the first six months of 2012, an estimated 2,000 au pair placements were carried out in the host country Spain via AuPairWorld.
AuPairWorld celebrates the new Spanish website by organising a new competition. Users are asked to explain what they associate with Spain and the Spanish language. In order to participate, they need to send their favourite pictures with a short explanation why this was a special moment for them. The selected pictures will be published on www.aupair-world.net. Among all participants ten users will have the chance to win a Premium Membership. Please consult this page to find further useful information.
Kassel/Osterode (13 September 2012). Last weekend, the Silly Walkers, from the AuPairWorld company in Kassel, participated in the German Oxfam Trailwalker for the first time. On Sunday at 12.47 p.m., after hiking for 29 hours and 17 minutes, they succesfully passed the finishing line.
The team had been training hard for months to be ready for the challenge of walking 100 kilometres in 30 hours for the good cause. The greatest fundraising challenge worldwide took place in Osterode, in the German Harz mountains. No less than 140 teams of four from all over Germany were standing at the starting line on Saturday 8th September, at 7.30 a.m. Among them, the Silly Walkers from AuPairWorld were eager to hit the road as well. Marius Kunze, Clarisse Couchoud, Chantal Quassolo and Jean-Baptiste Richard had laced up their walking shoes, knowing they could count on the help of their supporters, Claire Eckmann and Simon Ehrhardt.
The team had to pass a total of nine checkpoints. They did not sleep but kept hiking through the night with headlamps until Sunday. "In spite of our intensive training, we would have never made it without our great team spirit and our iron will", stated Chantal Quassolo. "We were immensely relieved and proud to pass the finishing line all together", Marius Kunze added. "It was a unique experience. I was deeply moved by the dedication of so many to a good cause", Claire Eckmann concluded.
Each team was to collect donations for Oxfam to be allowed at the start. The Silly Walkers from AuPairWorld raised a total amount of 3,242 euros for the charity organisation. The AuPairWorld operating company, a.n.d. Internet Services, contributed as well with a donation of 2,000 euros. In the end, a remarkable total of 372,875 euros was raised at the Oxfam Trailwalker Germany by all participating teams. The donations are invested by Oxfam in charity projects for women and children worldwide. Therefore, the Silly Walkers from AuPairWorld decided to walk under the motto "We 'd go miles for women's rights."
AuPairWorld has already supported various charity projects worldwide in the past: in 2010, the company committed itself to helping Haiti's and Pakistan's populations by supporting local emergency aid projects; in 2011, a fundraising campaign was organised for the refugee aid in East Africa. This time, the social commitment went hand in hand with a physical challenge.

The Oxfam Trailwalker is organised each year since 2010 in the Osterode area, in the German Harz mountains. Meanwhile, the charity walk has been held 15 times in twelve countries worldwide. It started with the international trailwalker in Hong Kong, in 1986. All donations are invested by Oxfam Germany in charity projects. This year, the participating teams supported women and children in developing southern countries so as to allow them to gain access to health care and education.
Kassel / Germany (6 September 2012). The AuPairWorld Team is physically at the top for the greatest charity walk worldwide. However, fitness does not alone suffice to be able to take part in the Oxfam Trailwalker Germany, which will take place in the Harz mountains this September.
Each team needs to raise a fund of 2,000 euros for Oxfam prior to the event. The donation of 2,000 euros made by a.n.d., the operating company of AuPairWorld, secures participation for the ¨AuPairWorld - Silly Walkers¨ on 7 and 8 September.
"We are truly glad about the fact that our employer has been supporting and sponsoring us throughout this project", Chantal Quassolo from the team ¨AuPairWorld – Silly Walkers¨ rejoices. Marius Kunze, her team colleague, adds: "It is great to know that we will now truly be allowed at the start". Hiking 100 kilometres in 30 hours for the good cause – the team has been training for this event throughout the past few months. However, the focus has not only been on training, but also on fundraising.
Our private sponsors have already donated more than one thousand euros. Furthermore, the international team whipped up its most delicious cakes for a bake sale in Kassel. Together with its employer's donation, 3,240 euros could be raised so far. The money will be donated to Oxfam. The organisation will use it for relief projects for girls and women worldwide. Therefore, the ¨AuPairWorld - Silly Walkers¨ will be participating along the lines ¨We 'd go miles for women's rights.¨
In 2012, social commitment goes hand in hand with physical performance for AuPairWorld. AuPairWorld has frequently donated for social projects worldwide: in 2010 for a relief project in Haiti and another one in Pakistan, and in 2011 for the aid to refugees in East Africa. This time, social engagement goes hand in hand with physical fitness. Naturally, donations are still more than welcome.

The Oxfam Trailwalker is the worlwide greatest charity walk for international educational projects organised by the independent aid and development organisation Oxfam. Oxfam provides emergency relief in crisis situations and supports people in poor countries. By organising the Oxfam Trailwalker, the organisation wishes to set an example: every participant commits to a just world without poverty. Thus, the 100 kilometre walk through the Harz mountains is a physical challenge, a team event and a charity walk at the same time – and, according to the organiser, ¨the most exciting trekking tour in the world¨! It will take place on 8 and 9 September 2012, for the third time, starting from Osterode in the Harz mountains. Donations are always invested in charitable projects: This year, they will be used for projects supporting girls and women in South Africa, Benin, Congo, Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
Kassel (3 August 2012). Along the lines: „We'd go miles for women's rights“, four of our team members will be tackling the Oxfam Trailwalker challenge in September. By participating in the 100 kilometre team challenge for charity, they will support children and women.
For AuPairWorld, social commitment is primarily linked to physical fitness in 2012: our ten runners only returned from the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge in Frankfurt in June, but our next team is already getting prepared for the charity walk in the Harz mountains.
A team of four members of AuPairWorld will be at the start at the Oxfam Trailwalker team challenge in Germany on 8 and 9 September. The route begins and ends in Osterode, in the Harz mountains. Among other places, the participants will discover UNESCO's cultural heritage "Oberharzer Wasserregal" (a system created for the storage and diversion of water, which was built between the 16th and 19th Century). The aim of the Oxfam Trailwalker team challenge is to walk or run 100 kilometres in 30 hours. This is a great physical challenge: six of our team members - the AuPairWorld - Silly Walkers – have been training for this purpose every Sunday for many weeks now. Two of them will be supporting our runners throughout the entire challenge, ensuring their well-being.
Physical performance is not the only aspect of the Oxfam Trailwalker challenge: the most important facet is donating for the good cause. The funds raised will directly go to Oxfam and be invested in relief projects for children and women. Until September, the team must have raised 2,000 euros for Oxfam. The funds are a requirement for being admitted to the start. The first donations have been made; the countdown is on.
Therefore, the AuPairWorld - Silly Walkers need sponsors to support them. Both, larger, as well as smaller donations are welcome – our team will gladly accept any kind of contribution. Simply take a look at the Oxfam team page and search for the AuPairWorld - Silly Walkers. Get to know them on their team page and support them with just a few clicks. If you wish, you will obtain a valid receipt for your donation and be mentioned as our sponsor on the Oxfam team page and the AuPairWorld website.
On our team page, you will find out how our participants are getting fit and how much money has been raised so far. Naturally, we will also keep you posted on the event of 8 and 9 September: Will the Silly Walkers attain their goal?
