The beginning of an amazing relationship

Host mum Stephanie wrote us just a few words about the first time she had an au pair in Canada. These succeed nonetheless in describing how deep the relationship between au pair and family could develop.

A part of our family

Our au pair in 2013 (our first au pair experience) far exceeded our expectations! Justine became part of our family in a flash (literally!) in September 2013. The first week she joined us in North Vancouver, B.C. (Canada) I had to attend a parent teacher meeting and left Justine to care for our three children, Ethan (7), Gwenyth (5) and Isla (18 mo).

A large 150 foot Douglas Fir tree was struck by lightning and crashed onto our house! Justine responded in a her signature style – mature and thoughtful – to reassure our kids and bring them to safety. That fateful day was the beginning of an amazing relationship that has carried us into 2014.

She is an instrumental part of our family and we have an incredibly respectful relationship that helps our family be stronger. We are so sad to see her go in February! Thanks AuPairWorld for connecting us – we are very grateful for the experience.
