"We'd go miles for women's rights"
The Silly Walkers have a good reason to be motivated: not only will they be supporting a good cause but they will also experience a great team event, along the lines: "We'd go miles for women's rights!" Why don't you have a look at our team page at the Oxfam Trailwalker to find out more?
Our team made it: last weekend, the AuPairWorld - Silly Walkers were at the start of the Oxfam Trailwalker in Osterode, in the German Harz mountains. They were successful, hiking 100 kilometres in 29 hours and 17 minutes.
Hiking 100 kilometres in 30 hours for the good cause – this is the objective our team had been training for throughout many months. Last weekend, the training finally paid off. As one of the 140 teams of four coming from all over Germany, our Silly Walkers took the start early in the morning on Saturday. The team did not sleep but kept hiking through the entire night until Sunday. „In spite of our intensive training, we would never have made it without our great team spirit and iron will,“ our translator and Silly Walker team member Chantal Quassolo affirmed.
To be allowed to participate in the walk, every team had to donate to Oxfam: the AuPairWorld - Silly Walkers raised an amount of 3,242 euros for the charity organisation. We would like to thank all who helped us with their donations and who supported us. A remarkable total of 372,875 euros was raised at the OxfamTrailwalker Germany by all participating teams.
The Oxfam Trailwalker is the worldwide biggest fundraising endurance challenge for international educational projects: 16 challenges are organised in twelve countries every year. The charity walk is organised by the independent aid and development organisation Oxfam. Oxfam provides assistance in crisis situations worldwide and helps people in poorer countries.
Team Silly Walkers
At the start for social justice: The AuPairWorld Silly Walkers have been training every Sunday to get fit for the great challenge in the Harz mountains. Naturally, the team gladly accepts any donation from private persons or companies. Our Silly Walkers are: Chantal Quassolo, Clarisse Couchoud, Claire Eckmann, Marius Kunze, Katrin Raible and Simon Ehrhardt.
They allow our Silly Walkers to be at the start! Therefore, we take the opportunity here to warmly thank all our current and future supporters and sponsors.
